Take a Chance on Dance
Primary Schools Touring Show and Workshop
In 2009, Expressions' Dance-in-Education team will tour to Queensland
primary schools in association with the Queensland
Arts Council's ontour inschools. Expressions will offer
the Take a Chance on Dance show, and the
Take a Chance on Dance workshop. These
can be used in conjuction with each other or can be booked as a
separate education component.
Take a Chance on Dance Touring Show
The Take a Chance on Dance touring
show uses concepts of space, chance, decision making
and abstraction in a 50-minute dance theatre program. Curiosity
and excitement are the primary creative elements involved in this
highly interactive piece where a spin of the wheel can change the
performance.
Take a Chance on Dance will give students the opportunity
to participate in the creation of a new dance piece. Every performance
is a world premiere!

Take a Chance on Dance Workshop
This workshop is designed to engage students and teachers in the
fundamental choreographic elements associated with creating non-narrative
dance works. The workshop will involve generating and manipulating
movement and spatial arrangements with the element of chance. Students
will use fun devices such as dice, hats and spinning people to create
elements of chance that influence their dance movements.
The Take a Chance on Dance workshop can been used in conjunction
with the Ontour Inschools Take a Chance on Dance touring
show or as an independent education component.
